Advent of Bloggers: Day 19

Not for the first time I thought I’d found a small blog only to find out while doing Advent of Bloggers that they’ve thousands of Twitter followers and an occasional Guardian column. Oops. Not niche then, but about the niche. Blogs that plough narrow and deep.

Blogs are the near perfect format for arcana and lore. A chance for someone with a hard-to-monetise passion doing their thing (the monetisation is in writing a book if it gets popular enough). John Boughton writes about the development of council estates. Start with his two-parter on Gateshead to see how much you didn’t realise you cared about this integral fabric of life.
